Diagon Alley

Main Shopping Street

The Main Street of Diagon Alley is a delight to explore! Here you’ll find Flourish and Blotts , Potage’s cauldron shop, the Apothecary, Wiseacre’s wizarding equipment, Eeylops Owl Emporium and the Magical Menagerie, and at the bottom of the street you’ll find Gringotts wizarding Bank.

Diagon Alley Main Street

It is however important to notice that there are more shops in the street, but they are still closed (for now). These are Florean Fortescu’s Ice cream parlour, Madam Malkin’s and Quality Quidditch supplies. Either these will open in other books OR they will incorporate new games to play. I hope for the latter as pottermore needs some more games to keep us entertained besides potions and wizard’s duel. It would be wonderful to play a game of quidditch in the shop 😀

Gringotts Bank

Our first stop in Diagon Alley is the Bank, as we need some galleons before we can shop ;p The building’s facade is pure white, just like it is described in the books. Inside it’s clear we’ve entered a luxurious building, as the artwork shows gilded sculptures on the walls and a large gilded mantle clock. You have to open your vault with a key that is provided, where you’ll find 500 Galleons to spend! 😀

Shopping List

But what should we buy? What items do we need before we head for the Hogwart’s Express and into Hogwarts? Pottermore provides you with a detailed shopping list that you need to find somewhere in the street. All you have to do, is visit the Diagon Alley shops where you’ll find everything that you need!

Shopping List

Eeylops Owl Emporium

My first stop in Diagon Alley, was the pet shop or Magical Menagerie. You can buy an owl, a cat or a toad (though toad’s are not very cool, so we read ;p ) I opted for a Siamese cat, simply because I’ve a Burmese cat called Robin in real life and thought it’d be great to have him with me in Pottermore lol 😀

Eeylops Owl Emporium

Magical Menagerie

Flourish and Blotts

This is the famous bookstore in Diagon Alley, where you’ll be able to buy all your books on the list. It’s a shame we can’t actually read these though…

Flourish and Blotts

Potage’s cauldron shop

What would a witch be without a cauldron? LOL  You can find different metals: pewter, brass and copper; each have different properties too. Though  I can’t see a faster brewing mode in Potions yet, even though I bought a copper cauldron 😦

The Apothecary

This is the one-stop shop for all your Potions class needs. Every ingredient needed for brewing potions can be found in this shop. However, you can to save some galleons, just go back into the moments in the book to get some more once you’ve run out. For example instead of buying an expensive bezoar, just check the medicine cabinet in the Hospital Wing  😀

The Apothecary

Wiseacre’s wizarding equipment

I particularly like this shop as not only can you buy your scales etc but also other items that are not on your list! I bought a Globe of the Moon 😀

Wizard's Equipment

And so ends our journey of Diagon Alley Main Street. Will update very soon with Diagon Alley South Side!
